Overview

Our approach is based on the Functional medicine model which recognizes that each individual is unique − what may work for some, may not work for others. The focus is to intervene at root levels of imbalance - that is to identify the ″cause″ of an illness rather than focusing only on the illness. It′s goal is to intervene before imbalances later become diseases utilizing intelligent and individualized combinations of treatments or protocols.

Most chronic health conditions involve imbalances in one or more of these six categories:

At the first visit, a full medical history will be taken and an examination performed to get a picture of your current health.

Following this assessment, the doctor will determine which tests you require (blood, urine, saliva, stool, genetic testing, scans, Xrays etc)which provide detailed information on how the various systems in your body are functioning (ie allows us to ″see inside″) rather than merely diagnosing disease.

If referrals to other specialities are needed, you will be so informed.

While waiting for the results of these investigations, some sort of treatment may commence.

Some of the specialized functional laboratory tests (not available through routine laboratory testing) include:

At the next consultation, the doctor will discuss your results and inform you of the issues that were identified. A suggestion is made for a treatment plan − which may include pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, vitamin and mineral supplements, herbal medication, bioidentical hormones, homeopathy, dietery and lifestyle changes etc.

If a homeopathic approach is taken, this will be explained to you. Depending on the condition and the route chosen (in co-operation with the patient), further follow up visits may be recommended.
